Our Materials
In our products, where possible, we use ecological paper or card. We make it clear when we have done this and are always striving for the best practice when making our gifts and bags, or sourcing them.
We package our toys in clear bags that are made in the UK from film that has been accredited to ‘OK biobased’ and DIN EN 13432. They are made from annually renewable PLA derived from corn or similar starches (potato etc.) and are fully biodegradable and compostable, breaking down to CO2 and H2O.
All our biofilm bags are fully biodegradable which means that they break down to CO2 and water which can then be reused in the eco system to make new plants. This will happen in either in home or commercial composting or landfill. They will still break down to CO2 and water but in commercial composting the temperature will be higher and the process is much quicker. In a colder home composter it will just take longer.
We use recyclable packaging for our deliveries with a recyclable, biodegradable & compostable brown tape. The address label was recyclable and compostable too, but in 2021 we realised that by writing the name and address directly on the parcel that we could use less materials! No, I don't know why we didn't think of this before either. Though not as pretty, we also save money on the previous labels we used, which helps us not have to increase our costs elsewhere.
We only use suppliers who share our values and always ask for samples before committing to a company to see how we feel about them. We ask for no plastic to be in our supply chain and are happy we don't get any delivered to us.
Consumers and businesses around the world today are more conscious than ever about green issues and looking to take an environmentally responsible attitude. And it shouldn't be any different in the world of kids parties.
We have one concern of our own items, and that is our Christmas Cracker snaps which are the only non-traceable of our own products - we are looking for an alternative and in 2022 will omit these from our cracker sets if we don't have one. We still think our cracker sets are hugely better than many others on the market and so still use these as a better alternative.
